DeepSeek, a popular iOS application, has been found to have several vulnerabilities, including the transmission of unencrypted data, according to recent revelations. This discovery implies that the app could potentially expose users' private information to malicious entities.
Traced back to a Chinese developer, the app had already been downloaded over 5,000 times before these security flaws came to light. The issues were discovered by an investigation led by the Digital Security firm, Mnemonic. Among the problems found, the most notable one involves the app's lack of end-to-end encryption, a significant oversight in today's privacy-centric digital world.
Further investigation revealed that the application was sending users' data, including login credentials, to an unknown server without any form of encryption. Mnemonic's investigators have also found that the app bypasses Apple's security measures by using private APIs, which is a clear violation of Apple's guidelines for developers.
These findings have been reported to Apple, and the app has been removed from the App Store. However, the situation underscores the importance of robust security measures and constant vigilance in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
